How to plan a one-year route with Tesla (all created with ChatGPT)

Is it possible to travel for a year around the world, in a Tesla, while working remotely?

Spoiler: yes, but it's not just about plugging in and driving.

Planning a long trip like this requires much more than choosing destinations: you need to think about connectivity, work rhythms, paperwork, rest, energy, relationships and, above all, how you want to live while working.

We created this guide with ChatGPT analyzing EVERYTHING we've been working on in the EchoRoute project, a journey from Europe to Asia and eventually Australia, in a Tesla Model 3 Long Range. But beyond the car, what's here is a way of thinking about travel as a lifestyle.

Start with the important questions

You can have the most advanced car, the most detailed map and perfect planning, but if you don't know why you're traveling, you'll get lost anyway.

The idea of EchoRoute was born from a need: to connect work with real life, to move around the world while continuing to lead projects, and to live with more presence. I wasn't looking for vacations. I was looking for a different rhythm, a different focus and a different type of impact.

If you're going to plan a one-year route, start with these questions: What are you looking for on this trip? What don't you want to lose from your current routine? What kind of balance between work, enjoyment and rest do you need?

Traveling isn't escaping. It's transforming.

Plan by blocks, not by days

Don't make an Excel with each day planned. You'll break it in the first week.

In EchoRoute we set up a base structure: Monday to Thursday for working from a city (comfortable Airbnb, good Wi-Fi, routine). Friday to Sunday for moving the Tesla, exploring, filming, getting inspired. And an extra week per city when the place is worth it (or when your body needs it).

The key isn't having everything locked in, but having a clear framework that supports you, and allows you to adapt when something changes.

The Tesla as a center of operations

The Tesla is much more than a car. It's your office, your video call booth, your mini recording studio, your nap spot, your ally.

With the Model 3 Long Range, real road consumption is around 14.5 to 16.5 kWh per 100 km if you drive at 110-120 km/h. That gives you comfortable range for 300 to 400 km stretches without stress.

Also, using apps like A Better Route Planner and PlugShare allows you to plan each stage precisely.

The great wildcard of the trip: the Juice Booster. It allows you to charge from any domestic or industrial outlet. In rural houses, hotels without a wallbox, areas without Superchargers... the Juice Booster saves you.

A key tip: charge while you live, not while you travel. Leave it charging while you sleep, eat, work, edit a video or make video calls from the car. Don't waste time "charging", integrate it into the flow of the day.

Starlink, connectivity without borders

For this to work, you need a solid internet connection. And that's where the real game-changer comes in: Starlink.

With Starlink you can have Wi-Fi anywhere in the world, even in rural areas, in the mountains or in countries with poor infrastructure. This changes the game: there are no more excuses for not working from anywhere.

Also, the Tesla becomes your office on wheels. With climate mode activated, you can work from the car for hours if it's too hot or cold. Good acoustics, clean background, comfortable space for a laptop + phone = video calls without drama.

Mental organization: you're not a tourist, you're a professional in motion

There's a huge difference between "traveling" and "traveling while working." Your energy is limited. Your concentration too. That's why you should organize your week with deep work blocks, blocks for moving, and time for doing nothing.

Even if you're filming for a documentary, like we do on EchoRoute, not everything needs to be shown. Some moments are just yours. And that's okay.

Keeping a journal, recording yourself just for you, or having days without screens can be more valuable than the best drone.

Crossing continents? Here's what you need to know

If you plan to go from Europe to Asia, or ship the Tesla to America or Australia, you need to plan for: Up-to-date car documentation (in our case, with a Spanish SL as the owner). Temporary import permit in countries outside the EU. International insurance. Customs process and contact with local agents.

This isn't "romantic," but it's what makes real freedom possible.

Sleeping in the Tesla? There are options, but it's not for everyone

Do we sleep in the Tesla? No. At least not us. Working requires real rest, a bathroom, kitchen, space. We use Airbnb with good connection, and in each city we look for a minimum of comfort.

That said: the Tesla can be converted into a bed with adapters, custom mattresses and even kits designed by entrepreneurs. We mention it because many people choose this option, and it can be useful in specific cases or by preference.

Documenting to live better

A key part of EchoRoute is documenting all of this. From blogs like this one to YouTube, social media, photos, recordings with Blackmagic, interviews and more.

But it's not all about marketing. Documenting also helps you: process what you experience, share real learnings, build community with other nomads, travelers, curious people. Content with purpose always goes beyond virality.

Time transforms

Traveling a year in a Tesla while working changes the way you think about time. There are no more "Mondays," "Fridays" or "holidays." There are productive moments and life moments.

And when you align both, true freedom begins. It's not easy. You'll miss things. You'll be alone. You'll want to stop.

But you'll also meet incredible people, new ideas, cultures that blow your mind, and versions of yourself you didn't know existed.

About this article

This content was created with ChatGPT, analyzing the entire real history of the EchoRoute project: our decisions, successes, doubts, tools, and underlying philosophy. More than a guide, it's an emotional and strategic map for those who don't want to choose between living and working. They want both. And better if it's in motion.
