BYD Dolphin in Spain: complete review of the cheapest Chinese EV on the market

The BYD Dolphin has been on Spanish roads for over a year, almost without anyone noticing. A compact electric car starting at €22,990 with 427 km of certified range. This is the honest review.

Price and Versions in Spain

BYD sells the Dolphin in Spain in two versions: the Comfort (44.9 kWh, 340 km WLTP) at €22,990 and the Design (60.4 kWh, 427 km WLTP) at €26,990. With Spain's maximum Plan MOVES III incentive, the Comfort goes down to approximately €15,990.

Real-World Range

The Design version's 427 km WLTP translates to approximately 300-340 km on the motorway at 120 km/h and 340-380 km in city driving. For an urban commuter, that means going several days without charging.

Charging

Maximum DC charge rate is 88 kW. From 10% to 80% takes approximately 29 minutes. Sufficient for an urban-focused car.

vs. European Compact EVs

The Dolphin Design offers comparable autonomy and charging to the Peugeot e-208 and Volkswagen ID.3 with €6,000-10,000 less in price. Interior finish quality is lower than the ID.3, but the price gap compensates for most buyers.

Prices verified July 2026. Always confirm with your local BYD dealership.
